Controlled excavation with unmatched vacuum power
Loram’s LTV is a powerful, rail-mounted specialty excavating machine that removes up to 50 cubic yards of material per hour using mechanical agitation and airflow. The most productive, vacuum-based maintenance of way excavation machine on the market, the LTV combines 5,000 lbs of nozzle strength with the fixed displacement vacuum pumps capable of 12,000 CFM of airflow. This makes it capable of excavating a host of challenging materials including compacted or ice-crusted ballast, mud, water, sand and soil. The split hopper design allows continuous excavation no longer requiring work to stop during material offload.
The LTV is designed to travel at track speeds while towing up to two fully-loaded material wagons. It offers a cab forward design keeping the operator in a secure and climate-controlled position during both work and travel operation. The manipulator’s precision control, unmatched power and a compact footprint provide unmatched flexibility when working around sensitive track equipment. Removing ballast around switches, signal and communications wires, on bridges, or in tunnels is done without risk of damage to critical assets. The combination of industry leading vacuum power and airflow excavates material faster than any other products in the market. The manipulator can position the nozzle 45° from vertical in any direction to reach ballast around hard to reach track structures, including under ties and near third rail. The standard nozzle can work at distances up to 16 feet from track centerline and 5.5 feet below top of rail, maximizing the work area.
Compact power and control make the versatile LTV ideal for excavating specialty trackwork, trackside equipment and yard applications, with the ability to traverse and operate within restricted clearances, including tunnels, passenger platforms and bridges.
