Loram’s Badger Ditcher is a self-propelled ditch cleaner that is capable of excavating and moving up to 500 cubic yards of material every hour, excavating at up to 22 feet from the center of the track, on either side. The Badger Ditcher creates a properly sloped ditch that intercepts and diverts water away from the track. Ditch cleaning is a best practice that increases the stability of ballast and improves vital drainage for the subgrade by moving water away from the track and right of way. It can extend the effective duration of surfacing, shoulder ballast cleaning and undercutting cycles, and prevent ties from deteriorating prematurely.

An onboard excavator is free to move the entire length of the joined cars while seated safely and securely on the floor.
